Venice Marathon 2024
The 38th Venice Marathon 2024 is an international race included in the World Athletics international calendar and the Abbott World Marathon Majors circuit. It is recognized by FIDAL as a “Gold Label” marathon. The route of the Venice Marathon 2024 as usual sees the start from the beautiful setting of Villa Pisani in Strà. The route winds along the Riviera del Brenta to arrive at the end of the more than 42 kilometers in Venice at the Sette Martiri waterfront. More than 16 thousand participants in 2023 in the main competition (half marathon and 10 kilometers are also run) and Family Runs. Victory and record of the 2023 event that went to Ugandan athlete Solomon Mutai in 2 hours 07 minutes 41 seconds.
Running the Venice Marathon 2024 means experiencing the thrill of discovering a route full of charm, history, art and culture, from Strà to the heart of Venice with the arrival along the Riva degli Schiavoni. It runs along and through places of rare beauty: the Riviera del Brenta with its famous and characteristic eighteenth-century villas reflected in the river, the charming and colorful historic center of Mestre, the green avenues of San Giuliano Park overlooking the lagoon, and then reaching the beautiful Venice.
Departure will take place at about 9:40 a.m. The exact time will be determined the day before the race according to organizational and TV broadcasting requirements.
The Venice Marathon 2024 course is basically flat and fast. The only difficulties are encountered between the 25th and 35th kilometers, in the form of 3-4 short uphill sections 100 meters or so long. In the final part of the marathon (last 3 kilometers), runners face 14 small bridges over the typical canals of Venice. The bridges are equipped with wooden ramps so that they do not have to deal with steps.
